I've been feeling the need to transition Isla into a big girl bed over the last couple weeks. This has mostly been brought on by our impending trip out east this summer (starting mid June). I started wondering where she would sleep at the various locations and realized that she's just too small for a pack and play now, so she'll need to get used to the idea of a bit more freedom.
Since Ada is still a bit too young to sleep in a top bunk, that was out of the question. The idea of a trundle bed has been rolling around in my head for a while now and I found the perfect plans for a trundle bed over at Knock Off Wood- one of my new favorite blogs!
I mentioned the plans to Michael earlier in the week, but it wasn't until Saturday morning that we actually put our heads together and discussed a game plan. We got Greg (My Father-In-Law) involved in our brainstorming and decided it would be best to go for a smaller than twin size bed that Ikea sells - this bed will get her through her first 5 years of life easily. If we decide later we don't need the bed, the trundle will make an excellent storage solution for under the bed. :)

My hard working hubbs!

"The Loud" power drill that really isn't loud at all

It's coming together- our goal was to get this finished in time for bedtime for Isla

The girl of the hour

Concerned by "the loud" power drill

Oh dear!

Let's take a moment to bow our heads...

Moment's passed!

Yippee!

The bed did get completed in time for Isla's bedtime! She just got to bed at 9:45 pm. ;) Next weekend the plan is to work on sanding / puttying / and painting her little big girl bed - yay!
